Reports to: Enterprise Software and Data Services Manager
Position summary: Project manager for a wide range of primarily technical development projects in a rapidly growing telecommunications company.
Essential functions:
• Manage a variety of development and maintenance projects for internal and external customers
• Define and provide direction for others in defining project scope and priority.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to insure on time and within budget results.
• Track project status through all stages of development.
• Keep management and stakeholders informed as to progress of the project on the timeline and the budget through both formal and informal reporting.
• Manage two to six projects simultaneously.
Other Responsibilities:
• A demonstrated ability to manage and develop a strong accountable Project team, including the ability to coordinate human and material resources in order to achieve a variety of objectives.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to manage all communication flow to/from customers through project development.
• An understanding of project management methodology and the willingness to apply a formal methodology to projects.
• Interact professionally and work productively with the public, industry, business representatives and other Hamilton employees.
• A strong desire to learn and improve.
• A strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
• An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A sense of urgency in meeting demanding deadlines.
• Ability to manipulate and use a standard computer keyboard and other computer components.
• Ability to hear and see both auditory commands and signals from computer, telephony and other electronic equipment.
• Manage the risk and unpredictable aspects of projects and the expectations of management.
• Lead project design, status and review meetings.
• Perform other tasks as required.
Preferred education, experience, and skills:
• The Project Manager must be skilled at understanding and communicating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong computer skills on a variety of tools and environments.
• At least five years of work experience in project management or project management related work, preferably in the field of information technology or telecom.
• Working knowledge and understanding of information systems technology.
• Computer programming experience in both procedural and object oriented programming languages or experience with support, documentation, testing, or training for commercial software although not essential would be a plus.
• Product management experience would be a plus.
• BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline, in computer science or project management related discipline or equivalent experience.
• PMI certification(s) would be a plus (e.g. CAPM, PMP, PMI-ACP).
• The ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
• Excellent deductive reasoning and problem solving skills.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability and willingness to travel alone.
