Reports to:  Director of Sales and Marketing

Position summary:  Position is responsible for execution of division’s social media strategy along with copywriting. 


Essential functions:

• Development of brand awareness and online reputation. Contributes to and implements the division’s social media strategy, including the development of marketing tactics that leverage social media outlets.

• Content management: Includes development of editorial/publishing calendar and relevant assets. Responsible for developing, curating, scheduling, distributing/publishing and maintaining online content that attracts attention, generates interest, and is easily shared across social networks.

• Monitors and interacts daily with users across multiple social media properties. Customer engagement is key: authentic, genuine and timely responses to inquiries and comments is essential.

• Identifies appropriate social media channels suited for specific business objectives and tailors content to targeted audiences.

• Works collaboratively with agency resources.

• Collects and analyzes data related to social media/digital marketing campaigns.

• Tracks performance of social media initiatives and develops/implements changes to improve business results. Provides content for social media, blogs, emails, ads, press releases, flyers, brochures, websites, etc. and edits copy to align with the organization’s strategic goals.

• Engages in risk/crisis management on behalf of the company by monitoring and managing timely response to external posts/comments expressed through engagement in social media channels.  

• Edits materials to ensure consistency and accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax, and usage.

• Collaborates with internal creative teams to write for the organization's various print and digital properties.

• Works with website developers in the implementation of tools that allow for easy integration with a social network.

• Serves as an integral member of the Marketing Team through participation in team meetings and planning sessions.

• Represents Hamilton at outreach functions and/or national marketing events, including tradeshows as applicable.

• Effectively organizes and prioritizes multiple deadlines and projects.

• Displays strength in attention to detail, creativity and stresses quality in all work situations.


Other responsibilities: 

• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours as needed.

• Possesses desire, willingness and ability to advance skills and knowledge of social media best practices through participation in industry conferences/seminars/workshops.

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Maintains a strong awareness of technology, business, marketing and regulatory changes occurring within the industry.

• Demonstrates professionalism and integrity in all work situations.

• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.


Education, experience, and skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field or two to five years related work experience is required.

• Two plus years of experience in copywriting is desired but not mandatory.

• Familiar with a variety of social media concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Excellent writing and editing skills across diverse formats; succinct, clear and concise writing style.

• Exceptional organization, communication, interpersonal, planning, and time management skills.

• A creative and original thinker who demonstrates initiative.

• Ability to adapt to and work comfortably with a variety social media platforms and aggregators as well as other communications technologies.

• Knowledge of and/or experience working with individuals and organizations within the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Senior Communities is helpful.

• Familiar with a variety of Relay concepts, practices, and procedures is a plus.

• Ability to effectively understand and carry out instructions.

• Knowledge of software such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and CRM systems.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.

• Ability and willingness to travel alone.
