Reports to:  Enterprise Software and Data Services Manager

Position summary:  Identifies and provides software solutions that meet the needs of both internal and external customers.  Reviews, analyzes and evaluates user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing accounting and reporting systems. 

Essential functions:

• Consults with personnel of organizational units to analyze current operational procedures and learn specific input and output requirements (such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports).  Develops software solutions that meet customer needs.

• Reviews accounting/financial software and system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if program changes are possible within existing systems.

• Studies existing software applications to evaluate effectiveness.  Formulates recommendations for approval and develops new solutions to improve production or workflow as required.

• Troubleshoots software system-related problems and coordinates with relevant Support Administrators.  Interacts with IT department to satisfy internal network and operating system standards when proposing modification of information systems in place or establishing new information system solutions.

• Reviews and audits data related to call detail and billing records for revenue assurance purposes.

• Performs data import/export functions, data extraction, and analysis related to various accounting and billing databases.

• Participates with other departmental staff in the completion of a wide variety of projects as requested.  Plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to deadlines and within budget.

• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.


Preferred education, experience, and skills:

• Bachelor or Associate Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Accounting, or possess equivalent work experience for the duties described.

• Proficiency with computer terminals and keyboards.

• Ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines.

• Proficiency with spreadsheet and database programs (e.g. MS-Excel and MS-Access).

• Experience with project management desirable.

• Experience with Crystal Reports desirable.

• Experience with JD Edwards desirable.

• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
