* Position summary: This position will work closely with Accounting staff and multiple business lines, participating in projects and daily tasks associated with tracking, reporting, and analyzing financial results. The Accounting Intern will use knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and will gain experience in areas including fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.
Essential functions:• Assist with inventory of fixed assets and preparation of associated work papers and reports.
• Work with accounting staff as needed to prepare various work papers and year-end schedules required by the company’s CPA firm in support of annual audit requirements.
• Support initiatives to develop documentation for accounting policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities:• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Preferred education, experience, and skills:• Enrolled full-time in a postsecondary college or university.
• Proficiency with computer terminals, keyboards, and calculator.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with computer spreadsheet programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel).
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.
