* Position summary: Responsible for running a bi-weekly payroll as well as administering benefit plans. This position requires a thorough understanding of payroll and benefits laws, including but not limited to: ACA, FLSA and FMLA. Supports departmental activities and upholds the company's core values while delivering excellent customer service.
Essential functions:• Processes bi-weekly payroll for approximately 160 corporate employees in JD Edwards. Will be the back-up for payroll processing for another company of approximately 300 employees.
• Performs thorough auditing of payroll records to ensure accuracy of benefit accruals, deductions, taxes, and other payroll data.
• Maintenance of payroll information and employee records via inputs from supervisors, employees, and other agencies including but not limited to rate changes, benefit changes, address changes, garnishments, direct deposit changes, etc.
• Processes new hires, terminations, job changes, and other employment changes inside advanced HR systems.
• Prepares and analyzes reports related to payroll and benefits.
• Responsible for all data associated with processing and auditing of payroll and benefits administration in JD Edwards and in Excel.
• Performs system testing and participates in the development of new features and functionality.
• Plans and directs day-to-day implementation and administration of benefit programs.
• Conducts benefit orientations for new hires and processes enrollment and beneficiary changes.
• Leads annual open enrollment.
• Regularly communicates with employees on all payroll and benefit plans by answering payroll and benefit related questions and informs employees of any changes to benefit plans and/or payroll.
• Processes weekly benefit interface files to vendors and work collaboratively with vendors.
• Performs benefit plan audits.
• Coordinates COBRA with third-party administrator.
• Remits bi-weekly 401(k) deferrals.
• Reviews and processes employee 401(k) changes, rollovers and distributions.
• Responsible for coordinating 401(k) new participant meetings as well as processing enrollments and quarterly rate changes.
• Handles claims for disability and life insurance.
• Ensures ACA compliance and completes annual ACA filing and ensures accuracy of W2s.
• Receives, researches, completes and performs all necessary follow up on unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
• Completes various HR reporting including required governmental reporting.
Other responsibilities:• Serves as a backup for processing the Relay payroll and various functions within the HR department.
• Assists HR department with awareness and implementation of HR/Company policy.
• Performs similar work-related duties as assigned.
Preferred education, experience, and skills:• 3-5 years of HR administrative, benefit and payroll experience. Accounting experience beneficial.
• Knowledge and thorough understanding of Federal, State and local payroll, tax, benefit and employment laws.
• Experience with web-based payroll programs such as JD Edwards and significant experience processing payroll, including testing.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel for data analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to complete tasks on a structured timeline.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address audits, payroll discrepancies and benefit-related issues.
