* Position summary:  Responsible for relaying English and Spanish text telephone and voice telephone calls to and from people who may be deaf, hard of hearing or have difficulty speaking. 
Essential functions:•	Conveys messages of all types to Text Telephone users from voice users and vice versa.
•	Enters and reads type written text on a standard computer monitor and keyboard.
•	Types accurately while keeping pace with the voice party.
•	Relays calls in a conversational manner using voice inflection, speech patterns, tone of voices, and user intent.
•	Understands directions and information given by the relay user.
•	Gives concise and accurate information to the relay user. 
•	Monitors technical issues on calls and reports to appropriate staff.
•	Attends job-related meetings and trainings.
•	Uses “down time” to review procedures and languages, and to construct tools to help understand and reference procedures and languages.
•	Learns, utilizes, and adheres to proper Hamilton procedures.
•	Signs and abides by the Hamilton Relay Service Confidentiality Agreement, even after employment has ended.
Other responsibilities:•	Perform other similar work-related duties as assigned.
Preferred education, experience, and skills:•	Must be 18 years of age or older.
•	High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
•	Ability to type, in English and Spanish, a minimum of 60 words per minute with 95% accuracy.
•	Knowledge of English and Spanish language structure and content, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
•	Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish through reading, writing, speaking and listening.
•	Strong communications skills, including verbal, written and interpersonal, and the ability to read and interpret information on a standard computer monitor.
•	Strong voice abilities and qualities- ability to speak with clear enunciation.
•	Excellent spelling and vocabulary.
•	Calm and relaxed demeanor.
•	Comfortable and familiar with computers and new technology.
•	Positive work attitude.
Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use these abilities for extended periods of time:
•	Sit, hear, and talk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
•	Specific vision abilities required include the ability to visually read text in a high-speed environment in order to quickly review text for accuracy in real time.
•	Strong voice qualities - ability to speak quickly with clear enunciation.
